The
Points
System
The Salcha Ski Club conducts five races for elementary-age skiers during the season. We present awards to our members based on their performance in these races. In order to be eligible for these awards a skier must race in at least three of the five races.
Our schedule is arranged so that there are two races before the December vacation and three after it. This allows someone who joins the club late in the season to still be able to ski in the required three races and be eligible for an award. The final standings are based on a skier's best 3 races.
Ties are broken by going to the fourth race results, or fifth race, or even combined times for all five races, if necessary. We score our races using the Continental Cup system, with 1st place = 30 points, 2nd=25, 3rd=21, 4th=18, 5th=16, 6th=15 and so on.
