Ski Equipment

Cross country ski equipment consists of skis (with bindings), ski boots (that fit the style of binding on the skis) and poles. Equipment is fitted to the skier by height and weight and care must be taken to do this correctly in order for the equipment to work properly.

Touring and racing skis are available and beginning skiers can get by just fine on touring skis. Generally, touring skis are wider that racing skis, which makes them more stable and easier to learn on. Racing skis are narrower, lighter and faster. Skiers who are proficient at skiing can go faster with less effort on racing skis.

Buying ski equipment can be confusing to people new to the sport. Before buying equipment, please check with the club coach or assistant coach or with parents who have skiers on the ski team. They can help you find the right equipment and make sure it is properly sized. There is one important rule to follow: NEVER buy wax-less skis!!!

The ski club has equipment for sale and can save you money. If we don't have what you need we can show you where the best bargains can be found. Since children grow out of their equipment quickly there is usually used equipment available from other club members at a substantial savings over new prices.
